Young humanitarians in Armenia Red Cross Youth
Armenia Red Cross Youth started a pilot project called Promotion of Human Values this fall which turned out to be a success. I have written an article about this project which is now published on the IFRC Youth webpages.
It is never too early to contribute something to your community – that is one of the main messages of a project by the Armenia Red Cross youth. By promoting humanitarian values in two schools, the youth volunteers motivated 50 teenagers aged 12 and 13 to design projects that meet the needs of their communities.
The full article is found here at the IFRC Youth webpages, and a Norwegian translation is available at the Norwegian Red Cross Youth pages.
I’m alright and safe.
After recent events in Armenia, a state of emergency has been imposed. It actually has less consequences for me than one might think; I am doing good, free to move pretty much wherever I want and under the circumstances I feel safe, but as it turns out I am not free to write whatever I want. Read this quote from Onnik Krikorian’s latest announcement blog.oneworld.com:
I’ve just received a phone call from The Armenian Observer informing me that a legal media expert has determined that blogging from Armenia falls under restrictions placed on the dissemination of information during the state of emergency period. This means that posts on the internal political situation in the country are now restricted.
And that goes for me and my blog too. Not that I ever intended to do extensive reporting on the situation here, but it’s a strange feeling to have restrictions on what I can publish.
Putting that aside, I can inform you all that I am doing good and I’m safe.
